One of my favorite television series of all time is the Band of Brothers. The show tells the story of the “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. It shares about their rigorous training to go to war and follows them from D-Day to the end of the war.
It is an amazing story. One of the prominent soldiers featured in the story is Major Richard Winters, who lived in Campbelltown, PA.
They often found themselves behind the frontlines, as airborne being dropped into enemy territory.
It is hard to imagine any length of training preparing one to go through the dangers they faced. They knew without a doubt they were in the middle of a war.
Today, some Christians do find themselves in the middle of wars around the world. Most of us living in the United States don’t see them.
What I hope you will see is how the spiritual battle between light and darkness is just as real as any war here on earth.
As Christians, we are in a war, a war between good and evil. You are on the frontlines. On your own you may not feel fully equipped, but in Christ, you have what you need.
Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1, CEB)
Do you see yourself made new, righteous before God?
Do you see yourself created in His image to be His light in the world?
When you are His light, you push back the darkness! You are in the middle of the cosmic war, entrenched on the frontlines.
You are in this life to be a hero, to go out every day facing the evil one, by loving as Jesus loves!
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
