Thanks to everyone who supported the first ever Pot Pie and Pepper Slaw Drive-Thru held last weekend. Needless-to-say, we were not sure what to expect in this current coronavirus-driven environment, but we were so pleasantly surprised. Covid-19 has changed our lives in so many ways, and the Pot Pie Supper had to adapt as well. Responding to the many requests we received to again offer homemade pot pie and pepper slaw, we decided to try a drive-thru event. None of us had any experience with this, but all our work group agreed we needed to try. It wasn’t the same as “breaking bread” with our friends, but some of us were at least able to say “hi” to many of you. One thing is certain, we were shocked to have 477 quarts of pot pie gone in 15 minutes! We were concerned we might not be able to use all we made, even to the point of looking for a place to take the leftover food, but we needn’t have worried. It seems that everyone who samples our meal really loves it.
No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but we are already considering what the next Pot Pie Event will look like. We have things to learn and improve upon, but we are committed to this ministry.
We have known many loyal friends since we began this event about 10 years ago, and all of you are so important to us. We regret we were not able to hold our regular sit-down dinner where we could talk and catch up on your news, but we were so happy you decided to visit us anyway. We also regret that many of you went away without pot pie and slaw, but we are thankful that you came. We are limited by our environment so the amount we make is also limited, but we may be able to find ways to help with that.
Through the years, you have helped us reach thousands of people, mostly children, through your attendance and generous donations. We hope, with God’s help, we will be able to continue this event in some form in the future so we are able to once again greet our good friends and continue our Missions Ministry.
Please continue to check our website for information on future events. That’s where you’ll find the news first on what is planned.
