Where will you be 1,000 years from now?
Take a moment to look at yourself. Did you know that most of what you see isn’t you?
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19, NIV)
We’ll work for the time we have here on earth. Then these bodies will return to dust, and yet, Jesus says you will live forever in Him!
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28, NIV)
Jesus was speaking about everyone who calls Him Lord, everyone that has trusted in His work of forgiveness and transformation. Because of our sin, we deserve death, and yet, Jesus gives life.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23, NIV)
Where will you be 1,000 years from now?
One thousand years from now you will be fantastic! Go ahead and think about that again. Scripture reminds us how brief of time our lives here really are. They go by like a breath of air.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4, NIV)
We fix our eyes on what is eternal, Jesus! We follow Him today, tomorrow, and for all of eternity. We live out our calling, to be His light to the world, loving as He loves!
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
